吉田　茂(よしだ　しげる)　明治11年～昭和42年(1878-1967)

宿毛出身の竹内綱の五男として東京で生まれ、3歳で横浜の実業家、吉田健三の養子となりました。
東京帝国大学卒業後外務省に勤務し、各国の大使を歴任しますが、日独伊三国同盟に反対して職を追われました。
戦後は吉田内閣を組織し、7年余の政権のなかで、新憲法の発布やサンフランシスコ平和条約締結など戦後復興の礎を築きました。

Shigeru Yoshida was the fifth son of Tsuna Takeuchi and was adopted to the Yoshida Family when he was three years old.
After graduating from Tokyo Imperial University he worked in the Department of Foreign Affairs and became Japan's ambassador to Italy and the United Kingdom.
Outwardly spoken about his opposition to the signing of the Tripartite Pact, he consequently lost his position in government.
In 1946, he became the 45th Prime minister of Japan and with his extensive knowledge of western societies strongly contributed to Japais's post-war reconstruction.
He also worked to strengthen relationships with numerous countries and on September 1951, signed the San Francisco Peace Treaty.
