伊賀 陽太郎(いが ようたろう) 嘉永4年~明治30年(1851-1897)
伊賀陽太郎は11代の宿毛領主氏理の嫡男で、明治維新期には宿毛兵とともに官軍として参戦し、宿毛の人材輩出の基をつくりました。
維新後、自費で英国に10年間留学して政治学、経済学を修め、帰国後は病弱のため官途にはつかず、高等商業学校(現一橋大学)の教師となって学生の指導にあたりました。
その後病気静養のため宿毛に帰り、私塾を開いて青少年の教育にあたりました。
Iga Yotaro was the heir of the Sukumo Feudal Lord Joeki the 11th.
Following the Meiji Restoration, he served in the Imperial Army and was
highly respected amongst the Sukumo Soldiers.
After the war he studied politics and economics in England for 10 years.
When he returned to Japan, he became a teacher at a reputable commerce
school(today's Ichiyo University).
After retirement, he returned to Sukumo to recuperate from illness and
started his own private school for youth.
